Deanne Bergey, Acting Director, Community Services, accompanied by Nicole Chouinard, Manager, Community Services, RCMP Support, and Sabrina Caterini, Manager, Bylaw Services, provided a presentation on the proposed Responsible Pet Owner Bylaw No. 19/025 and Bylaw No. 18/021, an amendment to the Community Standards Appeal Committee Bylaw No. 18/021.

Bill Leonard, resident, spoke in support of the proposed bylaw; however, indicated that there should be additional restrictions for dog parks as it relates to pet service companies.

Dorothy McShaffery, resident, spoke in support of the proposed bylaw; proposing that, dog owners should be permitted to walk four dogs rather than three.

Ann Kidston, resident, and Pet Service Business Owner, spoke in support of the proposed bylaw; however, suggested that there should be provisions included for pet service business owners.

Exit and Return

Councillor K. Balsom exited the meeting at 4:48 p.m. and returned at 4:49 p.m.

Councillor K. McGrath exited the meeting at 4:50 p.m. and returned at 4:53 p.m.

Councillor S. Lalonde exited the meeting at 4:57 p.m. and returned at 4:58 p.m.

Michelle Trempe, resident and Pet Service Business Owner, spoke in support of the proposed bylaw; and in agreement to the previous speaker adding that the bylaw should permit dog walkers to walk up to six dogs at one time.

Exit and Return

Councillor V. Murphy exited the meeting at 5:12 p.m. and returned at 5:18 p.m.

The following motion was moved by Councillor P. Meagher and seconded by Councillor V. Murphy

“THAT Bylaw No. 19/025, being the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, be read a second time.”
