Scott Davis, Director, Emergency Management, provided an overview of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s Emergency Management Branch governance structure and spoke to recent changes to provincial emergency management legislation. He stated that subsequent amendments to the Emergency Management Bylaw No. 18/006 will be forthcoming. Scott Davis also spoke to 2019 Emergency Management successes and upcoming projects and initiatives planned for 2020 including an expansion to the automated communication system. A status update on the recommendations from the KPMG Lessons Learned from the 2016 Horse River Wildfire report was provided.
