Anti-Racism Working Group:
Caitlin Downie, Department Administrator, provided an update on the recommendations that were previously provided by the Committee. It was noted that the Committee Bylaw amendment is in progress and a draft is currently being reviewed. It was also noted that further progress has been made towards the ability for individuals to self identify during the Committee application and recruitment process.
It was advised that further support is being developed for Black and Indigenous led intiatives, as well as further discussion with the Multicultural Association on development of an Anit-Racism training program.
Accessibility Working Group:
Caitlin Downie, Department Administrator, provided an update on behalf of the Accessibility Working Group. It was advised that Communications and Legislative Services continue to work towards providing accessible information to the public through the Municipal website and Council meeting procedures and participation. It was also noted that Emergency Management provided an update on food services during emergency activations, it was indicated that alternative dietary options will be provided. Additionally, information was provided on the new emergency alert app that will be helpful to residents who may be deaf or hearing impaired.
