Indigenous Reconciliation Artwork in Council Chambers:

Theresa Buller, Department Administrator, provided an update on the Indigenous Reconciliation Artwork for Council Chambers. I was advised that invitations have been sent out to the leaders of various communities in the Region, and responses and feedback have been received regarding the Knowledge Keepers and interested artists. It was also noted that the Sharing Circle is moving forward.

Street Banner Program:

Karen Puga, Coordinator II, Community and Protective Services, advised the committee that theme for this program was slated to be "Northern Spirit, Culture and Games" but due to the recent postponement of the 2022 Alberta Winter Games, Administration is looking to determine a new theme. Two proposed themes are "Water is Life" and "My Home". The Committee provided feedback on these themes and suggested alternative concepts.

Engagement Moccasin Flats:

Karen Puga, Coordinator II, Community and Protective Services noted that a proposal was made to Council to create a memorial for Moccasin Flats, Administration is looking to take this back to Council at the April 13, 2021 Council Meeting. The Committee discussed what it's involvement in the process will be.

Cultural Infrastructure Request for Presentation:

Karen Puga, Coordinator II, Community and Protective Services, advised that the Request for Presentation will be brought forward in the coming weeks.
