Owen Erskine, Committee Member, provided an update from Group 1 - Beautification and Placemaking noting that various items were discussed during their meeting like flower displays, historical banners, areas for rock and bolder designs along Franklin Avenue; placement of "Welcome to Downtown" signage, and the possibility of working with building owners to create murals in the downtown area.
Jean-Marc Guillamot, Committee Member, provided an update from Working Group 2 - Neighbourhood Safety and Pedestrian Friendliness noting that their focus was on pedestrian walks, neighborhood safety and lighting within the downtown core area. It was also indicated that this working group discussed complimenting the initiatives undertaken by the Wood Buffalo Waterfront Advisory Committee.
Amanda Haitas, Planning and Development provided an update on the Downtown Revitalization Incentive Program noting that at present there are 50 approved applications equating to over $4M investment in the downtown community. Discussion occurred with respect to Phase 2 of the Program which is anticipated to be brought forward to Council in March 2021.
Through consensus of the Committee, a letter of support from the Committee will be provided to Council to support Phase 2 of the Program.

Administration to draft a letter of support for Phase 2 of the Downtown Revitalization Incentive Program for the Chair’s signature.
