THAT the Mayor be directed to send a letter to Alberta Environment and Parks, opposing the proposed development of a Class II Oilfield Landfill by SECURE Energy Services Inc. in close proximity to the Hamlet of Conklin.

Public Speakers

Bob Clarke, Business Development Representative and Greg Dickie, Director of Regulatory Affairs for SECURE Energy Services Inc., spoke in opposition to the recommendation before Council, asking for an opportunity to move forward with the development permit application process.

Jeffrey O'Donnell, Chief Executive Officer, Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee, spoke in support of the recommendation and circulated a letter to members of Council which further supported the statement of concern.

Ron Quintal, President, Fort McKay Metis Community spoke in support to the recommendation.

Councillor K. McGrath left the Chamber at 7:51 p.m. and returned at 7:54 p.m

Jay Telegdi, representing Fort McMurray Metis, spoke in support of the recommendation.

Exit and Return

Councillor B. Inglis left the meeting at 7:56 p.m. and returned at 7:57 p.m.

Darrin Bourque, resident, spoke in support of the recommendation before Council.

Recess

The meeting recessed at 8:02 p.m. and reconvened at 8:12 p.m.
